Water Parks in KC

Posted July 07, 2014 10:00pm by Jane

Great Wolf LodgeNeed a break from your regular pool? Lucky for us, Kansas City has no shortage of pools and splash parks to visit. There are also tons of water parks to enjoy with the kids as well!

Coco Keys: If you need a break from the great outdoors (read, too many sunburns), Coco Keys offers a great selection of water activities and slides for all ages in this indoor water park. The Dip In is a shallow pool with slide for the littlest ones, the Adventure River for a relaxing lazy river ride, 4 adventure water slides, and tons of other water activities to enjoy. Plus an arcade, a few dining selections, and an indoor/outdoor water spa to relax in if your kids don’t require supervision. Day passes start at $12/person. Click here for hours of operation. Located at the Holiday Inn Kansas City – SE, 9103 E 39 St, Kansas City, MO 64133; (877) 425-2746

Great Wolf Lodge: Another indoor/outdoor waterpark that offers more than just water slides. Located at The Legends, Great Wolf features tons of slides, fountains and other water activities to wear out the kids in its massive 38,000 square foot space. There are jaw-dropping slides for thrill seekers or zero-depth entry areas for little ones inside the park; outside offers dragon battles in MagiQuest and the Scooops Kid Spa. There’s so much going on there every day, it’s best to check out the Great Wolf website to plan your visit. Water park passes are part of your room reservation; click here for pricing information. Located at 10401 Cabela Drive, Kansas City, KS 66111, (800) 608-9653

Oceans of Fun: Features Captain Kidd’s and Crocodile Isle water playgrounds for the littlest ones in the family. As for the older kids, there are so many waterslides, rapids and super pools around that it’s hard to pick which one to start with. My favorite ride with my kids is the Caribbean Cooler relaxing enough for me, but exciting enough for the kids! Tickets start at $39.99 for advance online ticket purchase, but there are a wide variety of ticket discounts and options available. Click here for hours of operation. Located at 4545 Worlds of Fun Ave., Kansas City, MO 64161

Schlitterbahn: Everyone is watching for the upcoming opening of Verrückt, the tallest water slide in the world, at 168 feet, 7 inches tall. If you’re brave enough to go on it, it should be quite an adventure! Until then, you can enjoy rides on more than one mile of interconnected river that goes from mild to wild, including water slides, water coasters, and a handful of kiddie water parks that feature 13 mini slides. Picnics are welcome inside the park. There are a wide variety of day and season pass options. Click here for hours of operation. Located nearby The Legends at 9400 State Ave., Kansas City, KS 66112; (913) 312-3110

Super Splash USA: We like this for families with younger kids. It’s more in line with the water parks most of us grew up with, as it’s smaller than the other parks listed here, with very reasonable rates. Featuring a zero-depth entry pool, a special water slide for the younger set, plus some serious water slides (including the 3-person Rocky Mountain Avalanche ride) for your older kids. Rates start at $7 for kids, $9 for adults, kids 37 inches and shorter are free. Click here for hours of operation. Located at 5330 Raytown Road, Raytown, MO; (816) 356-5300

It’s Preschool Enrollment Time in Kansas City– for Fall 2012

Posted January 31, 2012 10:17pm by Admin

Preschool Directory - Kansas City metro

It’s that time of year…preschool enrollment time!  It’s hard to believe that it’s time to register your little ones for Fall 2012 preschool classes.  Many area preschools have already started the enrollment process for current families and will open up to the public within the next week.  Typically, priority enrollment is given to current families, church members, alumni and then the general public.

KC Kids Fun has compiled an extensive and very useful directory of preschools around the Kansas City metro area. We’ve got a separate list for each of the following areas:

If we’ve missed a good one (or if you find a broken link or closed facility amongst our list), please let us know in the comments section. Thanks for your help.  It takes a village to keep this updated and current!!

Good luck! We hope everyone finds a great preschool/parents day out program for their child!

KC Kids Fun provides its readers with contact information for the listed preschools. We make every effort to supply you with up-to-date information, but we cannot guarantee each school’s capabilities. All information listed on preschools is subject to change without notice.Because selecting a preschool for your child is a personal decision, you should visit the schools to determine which you and your family feel is best for your child and your circumstances.

Kansas City Halloween Fun

We  wrapped up the Halloween costume-creation process last night, just in time for today’s classroom parties. I was cutting an old t-shirt to make into a “kung fu headband” at about 10pm last night. But everyone got out the door with costumes in hand this morning. So, it’s all good.

What will you be doing this weekend? There’s a lot to choose from in Kansas City this Halloween!

Here are a few ideas:
