Kansas City Area Open Gyms

Hey KC Kids Fun readers! Just wanted to let you all know that we’ve put together a super list of drop-in open gyms around the Kansas City metro – there are offerings for toddlers, preschoolers and older kids! We’ve organized our list by days of the week so that you can find one of these great energy-burners at any time (even at the last minute…). The list will now be a permanent fixture in our Links Directory along the right side of the page (listed under Indoor Activities).

So, take a peek at our OPEN GYMS list – and pass it along to your friends who might need a sanity break once a week (or even twice)!

**********************************************
And I also just wanted to tell you guys about this darling new Halloween book that I found this weekend – Vunce Upon a Time. It’s by J.otto Seibold, the illustrator of the contemporary Christmas favorite Olive, the Other Reindeer (Olive). We LOVE the Olive book at our house so I was immediately drawn to Vunce Upon a Time. Dagmar the Vampire is shy vegetarian who is afraid of humans. And he loves candy. He braves the human world only when he hears about Halloween! This book just came out in September and there’s still time to get it before October 31st!

Keep On Having Fun With Your KC Kids!

Posted August 25, 2008 4:14pm by Kiran

The school supplies have been purchased, the class lists dissected and the first few days of school are under your belt. You might have even treated yourself to a long lunch with a friend. BUT WAIT!!! We are enjoying gorgeous weather, and it’s still light outside until 8:15 or so. And, there are still those precious weekends. So, what’s a Kansas City family to do?

There are still many great activities for kids around the Kansas City metro. If you missed it in June, Kate and I compiled a list of “30 Fun Things To Do With Your Kids This Summer,” that covered everything from a FREE outing to Deanna Rose Farmstead in Overland Park to catching an outdoor movie at one of Kansas City’s parks or at Briarcliff Village in the Northland. Just because summer is winding down doesn’t mean that you can’t still do many of the things on the “30 Fun Things To Do Around Kansas City with Your Kids” list!

If you visited your local farmers market back in June, go again…the offerings will be totally different! The T-Bones are winding down their season this week with several fun “Fan Appreciation” events on tap. Did you get a chance to make “Kick The Can Ice Cream” for your family? If not, try making it this weekend. It might actually take less time since it’s not so hot outside.

If you had an especially fun or unusual outing…please share it with us. We’d love to know how you all had fun this summer with YOUR KC Kids. Have a great week! K & K
