Posted November 13, 2011 10:07pm by Kiran

We’ve had the good fortune of welcoming some new advertisers to the KC Kids Fun advertising community these past few months!  All are family-friendly and all would appreciate your business.  Especially as the holidays draw near, we like to encourage readers to shop and buy local first.  There are so many terrific locally-owned businesses right here in KC, and you can feel good knowing that your hard-earned money is staying here in the metro!

Thanks to all of our advertisers throughout the years.  We’ve been very lucky to have worked with a tremendous group of business people and business owners from the community who recognize the importance of family and kid-friendly activities!

Our first welcome is to Kansas City Repertory Theatrewhere you will want to catch the annual production that is quintessential Kansas City Christmas– A Christmas Carol. Tickets are available now and the production runs November 19- December 26, 2011.W

We also want to welcome The Ice at Park Place in Leawood, KS.  The Ice is Johnson County’s ONLY outdoor ice rink!  It’s size makes it perfect for a beginner’s first spin on the rink, and Park Place is home to some wonderful shops and restaurants for pre- or post-skate.  You can satisfy your sweet tooth at Paciugo Gelato or Cupcake A La Mode, or enjoy a freshly-prepared meal at Ingredient Restaurant or Carmen’s Cafe.

The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America, Greater Kansas City Chapter (AAFA) is one of our local partner organizations. We are proud of this partnership and wanted to share one of the great things that AAFA is doing for kids with asthma and allergies. AAFA hosts a fun-filled, week-long day camp for kids who have just completed grades 1-6 in the 2010-2011 school year. The 13th annual camp will be next month, July 11-15, 2011, for grades 1-3, and July 25-29, 2011 for grades 4-6. Camp is from 9am-4pm and is held at Overland Park’s Jewish Community Center, 5801 W. 115th St.  Camp costs $30 for the week, and scholarships are available.  Click here for a brochure.

You’ll definitely want to contact AAFA to learn about some of the other great services for your kids and other family members with asthma and allergies! Also, don’t forget to click back to our series on Summer Camps–especially Special Needs Camps.

This year, campers will be participating in exciting activities including games, crafts, swimming, and even a field trip and lunch out one day! Campers will understand that with proper education and asthma management, there’s no reason they should be limited in their summer activities. Superkids Asthma Day Camp ensures a safe, medically supervised environment for kids, and they will leave feeling informed and empowered to manage their asthma. Have a great week, campers!

The AAFA-KC chapter offices are located in KCMO, at 400 E. Red Bridge Road, Ste 214.  Telephone number is (816)3336608.

2011 VBS locations in metro Kansas City

Posted May 06, 2011 8:47pm by Kiran

Vacation Bible School (VBS) is something that many families look forward to each summer.  Typically kids go for several hours a day for one week, kids enjoy being with their friends, playing games and even learning a thing or two–all in a safe environment.  Most VBS camps are very reasonable, at $20-$40 for the week.  Many churches even offer assistance or scholarships.

This is also a great opportunity for you to check out our extensive Preschool Directory! It’s not too late to get a spot in a fall preschool and we have links to many programs.  And, since we’re on the topic of Directories…now that it’s May…are you ready for summer?  There’s still time to get your kid(s) enrolled in a summer camp or class.  We have added lots of camps to the list since we published theSummer Camp Directory 2011 in March, so even if you’ve looked it over, it wouldn’t hurt to give it another go!  If your church or place of worship conducts a summer camp or bible school–let us know!  We’ll gladly include it if we’ve missed it!
