  • Act Like An Animal CampKansas City Zoo and Starlight Theatre, ages 5-10. Campers experience movement, voice, drama and visual arts at Starlight each day. The other half of the day is spent learning about animals and exploring the zoo. A performance and art exhibit are the camps’ final curtain call.   • Alcott Arts Center (Kansas City, KS)  Summer Theatre Academy has had several sessions for ages 3-18 in the past. They are renovating their website right now, so check back to see what’s happening this summer!
  • American Rhythm (Independence, MO) offers a summer performance camp in music dance theater, speech level singing, clogging, auditions and more.
  • Animation Film Camp: (KCMO) Reel Spirit, the youth division of KC FilmFest, along with UMKC are offering a 3-day animation film camp for ages 10-14. It’s all about that story as you bring objects to life using stop-motion animation to produce a short film.
  • Ballet North (Northland) offers week-long dance camps for ages 4 and up.
  • Blue Valley Recreation (south Johnson County, KS) offers many performing arts classes, as well as music and band camps.
  • Camellot Academy (Kansas City, MO) offers a camp program at Rockhurst High School for kids age 5 through grade 9. Campers participate in activities related to dance, art, drama, vocal music and performance skills. They rehearse and perform a complete play the final week of camp.
  • Camp Take A Bow at Starlight Theatre: This popular day camp, gives campers the opportunity to gain in-depth, hands-on experience in creating and staging a musical theatre production. This performance-based camp culminates with a final showcase for friends and family on the last day.   • Christian Youth Theater (multiple locations) offers several day and overnight camp options for kids from age 4 through high school. Each session is a week long. The kids work on fun productions all week long and then perform!
  • Community School of the Arts/Kansas City Young Audiences offers a comprehensive and energizing week of dance!  The basics of ballet, modern, jazz, choreography and improvisation are taught.
  • Coterie Theatre (multiple locations) has courses for grades K-12: Try acting, playwriting or theatre exploration classes.
  • Creative Arts Academy (Gladstone, MO) offers camps for kids including hip hop dance, gymnastics, trampoline, tumbling, arts/crafts, sports, drama and swimming.
  • Culture House (Olathe, KS) has a HUGE variety of summer courses available from dance and ballet to music and theater. Take a performance combat class, a musical theater class and more!
  • Dramatic Truth School of Arts (south KCMO) introduces two new teen acting intensives, (one or two weeks).
  • Filmmaking 101 Camp: (KCMO) Reel Spirit, the youth division of KC FilmFest, along with UMKC are offering a 3-day film-making camp for ages 10-14. It’s all about that story, lighting, camera angles, sound, voice and special effects!
  • Future Jazz Camp (Overland Park, KS) – This week-long workshop provides music students an intense, fun environment of small and large ensemble rehearsals, jazz improvisation lessons, jazz history, theory classes and individual lessons. Middle school through adults.
  • Camp Shakespeare/Heart of America Shakespeare Festival(various locations) has a wide range of offerings for kids from 5 to 18. Camps range from one day to two weeks and many camps end with a camp performance of a Shakespearean play.
  • Hoffman Models Fashionista Summer Camp (Overland Park, KS) offers various summertime events for your budding model!
  • Ibsen Dance Theatre (Northland) Theatre and dance camps are available, in addition to classes during the summer.
  • Jody Phillips Dance Company (Overland Park, KS) offers several wonderful summer dance camps and workshops for boys and girls, and a variety of ages.
  • Johnson County Community College Performing Arts Series (Overland Park, KS) offers visual, theatre and performing arts classes.
  • Johnson County Park and Recreation District offers 39 summer camp programs for ages 3-18.  Included are camps focusing on theater, art, dance and music!  Dates, locations and fees vary.
  • Kansas Academy of Theatrical Arts (KATA) (KCK) provides performing and fine arts classes to children (5-16yrs) during their SUMMER DAY WORKSHOPS. Daily workshops include team acting skills, craft projects, story time, outdoor play, and daily class presentations.  Students are divided into age appropriate class groups with instructors.
  • Kansas School of Classical Ballet (Overland Park, KS)  is a not-for-profit organization devoted to providing the finest training available to students interested in learning the art of ballet.
  • Kansas City Ballet School (Prairie Village, KS) hosts summer programs for ages 3 and up, for every skill level.
  • Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey AileyCamp (Kansas City, MO and Kansas City, KS) is a six week day camp for KCMO and KCK middle-schoolers which uses dance as a vehicle to build self-esteem, self-discipline and critical thinking skills. Camps are held in KCMO and in KCK, transportation may be available.  The camp is FREE but there is an application/selection process.
  • KC Rock Band & Guitar Summer Session:  You could be playing guitar by August or performing in a rock band!  From voice lessons to drum classes, we have a fantastic summer schedule lined up, including private lessons taught on Guitar, Voice, Piano, Bass, Drums, Ukulele, Saxophone, and Flute.  Convenient location right off 435 and Holmes.  Ages 5 and up welcome (including adults)!
  • KC Young Audiences (Kansas City, MO) gives kids ages 5 to 18 a chance to learn music, musical theater, comedy, dance, show production and more! The younger kids can take half-day classes; older kids are eligible for full-day camps. Extended care is available.
  • Kindermusik Camps (Kearney, MO) – Available for children birth to age 7. Music and Movement camps with and without parent involvement (varies with age).
  • Legacy School of the Arts (Olathe, KS) offers regular and intensive summer dance classes as well as drama and musical theatre camps for all ages, starting at age 2.
  • Lyric Opera (Kansas City, MO) Supper Opera Camp and S.T.A.G.E.S. camps are available for kids grades 3-12. Summer Opera campers will study opera and acting techniques, and will perform a family opera at the end of camp. S.T.A.G.E.S. is a unique educational camp providing High School students intensive instruction in technical aspects of opera and musical theatre production.
  • Miller-Marley School of Dance and Voice (Overland Park, KS) will have a full summer of dance classes, Coterie Theatre classes and much more!

  • The Pulse PAC (south Kansas City, MO) offers some workshops and intensive dance classes this summer.
  • Revolutions Arts Center Summer Camps, (Northland) Kansas City, MO – Offering camps for ages 2-12, RAC has extreme fun and adventure in the form of themed visual arts, performing arts, dance camps, and an extra special STEAM camp to get your kiddos excited about their potential!
  • “Rocker Soccer Jam” –provided by Rock Band Academy, a fun way for kids ages 6-8 to enjoy rock music AND soccer! (Prairie Village, KS)
  • St. Teresa’s Academy Summer Camps (Kansas City, MO) offer Dance and Art Workshop camps for girls in grades 4-9.
  • School of Rock (Lee’s Summit, MO) – offers summer, winter and spring break rock music camps, designed for musicians of all skill levels who play guitar, bass, drums, keyboard, and vocals. Students ages 7-18 develop their musicianship and learn new skills in a creative and fun environment.
  • Stage Right Performing Arts (Overland Park, KS) offers 2 different musical theater camps, including final performances, for kids in grades K-12.  Students learn audition techniques, staging, voice, singing and dancing.
  • StageworX:The mission of our staff of certified educators and theater professionals is to provide three things for every camper: rewards of excellence in theater performance, depth of personal character, and lasting friendships. We have a variety of theater camps for all ages from pre-school through high school.
  • Theatre for Young America (Shawnee, KS) hosts drama classes and five-day workshops.
  • Theatre of the Imagination (Leawood, KS) offers Spring Break drama camps and Summer theatre camps. All ages, several themes – acting, singing dancing!
  • Trilogy Cultural Arts Centre (Olathe, KS) has day and overnight theater and visual arts summer camps available this year. Something for everyone!
  • University of Missouri – Kansas City Community Music and Dance Academy (Kansas City, MO) has several dance and musical instrument summer programs. Some are offered at UMKC and others are offered at Notre Dame de Sion lower school.
  • YMCA (20 locations in the metro) offers camps for 5-11 year olds.  Drama camp is available in addition to crafts, sports and nature!  Bonus:  before and after-camp care is available, as is financial assistance.
