Kansas City-Area 4th of July Fireworks – 2013

It’s that time again! 4th of July, Independence Day, Fireworks in Kansas City – 2013 style! I can’t believe that June is coming to a close…

Lots to do around the Kansas City metro this Fourth of July. The Royals are in town for the first time in a few years – they play the Indians at 7:10pm on Wednesday, July 3rd with fireworks after the game and they play the A’s at 7:10pm on Friday, July 5th, followed by fireworks (they also play on the 4th of July but it’s a 1:10pm game so no fireworks). You can also catch several fireworks displays out at CommunityAmerica Ballpark in Kansas City, KS after the T-Bones play! They will have fireworks after the July 3rd game and the July 4th game.

  • An American Celebration – Richmond, MO – fireworks, live music, games for all ages, concessions, skydivers, KC Wolf, children’s games, and much more in Southview Park. The fun begins with the Ciy of Richmond hosting a “Free Swim” at the Southview Pool from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with the rest of the activities beginning in the park at 6:00 p.m.  The display will begin at dark or about 9:30 PM. Bring your lawn chairs. (Rain date: June 29)
  • Lansing KS Fireworks – Kenneth W. Bernard Community Park – approximately 9:30pm

On the Missouri Side –

  • Fourth of July Celebration, Parkville, MO – parade at 10am; fireworks at 9:45pm; carnival from 11am to 11pm (Carnival actually runs from July 3rd thru 6th)
  • KC Riverfest – Berkley Riverfront Park, KCMO – gates open at 4pm – festival food, live music, and FIREWORKS! Display begins at 10:05pm. (Fee for entry and parking)
  • Independence Day Celebration – Mormon Visitors Center, Independence, MO – concert at 8:30pm; fireworks begin at dusk
  • Jackson County 4th of July Appreciation Celebration – Longview Lake – skydivers, live music, concessions (no pets or grills please). Gates open at 6pm; and the biggest fireworks display ever in Jackson County at dusk.
  • Gladstone MO Fireworks – Oak Grove Park, 76th & N. Troost – at dusk
  • Liberty4thFest, Liberty, MO – William Jewell College Campus – live music and children’s activities begin at 6pm; fireworks at 9:45pm (community parade on the Liberty square at 10am)
  • Smithville Lake (MO) Fireworks – north end of the Smithville Lake Dam, beginning at about 9pm
  • Platte City Family Fun – swimming, bike rodeo, TONS of activities during the day (music and fireworks will be the FOLLOWING NIGHT on July 5th) – Platte County R-3 High School, Platte City, MO
  • Sugar Creek MO Fireworks – Heritage Philharmonic at 8pm; fireworks at 9:45pm at William Henry Harrison Park.
  • Raymore MO Fireworks – Recreation Park, Raymore, MO – live music and food beginning at 5pm; fireworks at 9:30pm
  • Harrisonville MO Fireworks – Harrisonville City Park – family fun starting at 2pm; FIREWORKS at 9:30pm
  • Blue Springs MO Fireworks – Peve Stadium – gates open at 7:30pm, live entertainment from 8 to 9:30pm; fireworks at 9:30pm (Rain date: July 5)
  • Worlds of Fun, Kansas City North – 10pm (July 4th, 5th, 6th and every Saturday in July)

On the Kansas Side –

And the Fourth of July in Kansas City isn’t ALL about fireworks! There are some other great things to do on the weekend of the 4th before the sun sets. Don’t miss one of these great events:

  • Don’t miss the Parkville, Liberty, Platte City, KC Riverfest and Prairie Village daytime celebrations at the links listed above!
  • Missouri Town 1855 Independence Day – July 4th, 9am to 4:30pm – food, music, speeches and noon parade
  • Fort Osage – Sibley, MO – July 4th, 9am to 4:30pm – 1812-style Independence Day celebration with cannon and musket fire
  • 4th of July at the Farmstead – Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead, Overland Park, KS – activites from 9am to 12pm including bike parade
  • Community Days Parade, Lenexa, KS – July 4th, beginning at 10am
  • Independence Day 19th Century Style -10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Join us for historic activities, 19th century baseball, music, a reading of the Declaration of Independence, and a cannon firing! Bring a picnic lunch and enjoy this all-American celebration. Free admission, suggested donations $2/adult, $1/child. NOTE: As has been the case for the last three years, there will be NO Lenexa/Shawnee fireworks display at Shawnee Mission Park this year.

  • Mahaffie 19th Century Fireworks and Kansas Cowboys – 6:00 p.m. – 19th century fireworks by the Olathe Fire Department and all kinds of fun from the 1800’s. Bring your lawn chairs, blanket and picnic dinner to enjoy this patriotic celebration. After the concert, enjoy a special 19th Century Baseball presentation. Fireworks will begin at dark.
