We’re almost halfway through the 2013 version of Lent. For practicing Catholics, Lent means (among many more important things) 40 days of complying with Lenten regulations – beginning with fasting on Ash Wednesday and again on Good Friday. The “no meat on Fridays” rule runs throughout the Lenten season. Suffice it to say, though, the rule has spawned the mother of all church fundraisers – the Lenten Friday Night Fish Fry at many of Kansas City’s Catholic churches.
For Catholics, the church fish fry is an easy way to follow the rules without cooking fish at home. Even if you’re not Catholic, the church fish fry is great fun, good food and LOTS of fantastic neighbors and friends. Why not find one near you, pack up the kids and close your kitchen for the night? (And “fish fries” these days usually offer some non-fried options too for those of you trying to eat a bit healthier as well as cheese pizza if you have picky little ones!)
Here’s the end-all, be-all list of 2013 Kansas City Area Catholic Church Fish Fries:
