We will be visiting the dentist for checkups. And practicing being kind while expecting nothing in return.
Hopefully I will be starting a new job after being unemployed for 4 months. Otherwise we plan on hitting the library and doing some volunteering for KC Pet Project.
Being nearly 9-months pregnant, we may enjoy some quiet, thoughtful time at home.
We always spend MLK Jr day watching videos /audio of his speeches and reading about him. We homeschool & we always use this day to kick off our Black History Month studies:)
I will be taking my daughters with their girl scout troop to the aquarium in KC. We will also be having some of my husbands co-workers and their family’s over for dinner, and watch a little football!

My husband is off on Mondays, so we will be hanging out together as a family!
Hey Ferb, I know what we’re going to do today! We will be hitting the gym, having a cousin over for a playdate and visiting grandparents.
We will be visiting local museums, reading books, and watching some videos celebrating Dr.King’s dream.
My daughter told me this morning that we need to buy a cake for Martin Luther King Jr,’s birthday. And, she has already invited some friends over to celebrate.
Gotta love first graders.
Over the weekend we will be hitting the scavenger hunt at the Kemper Museum and Friday we will be attending “Snow” at the Plaza Library. BOTH events we discovered on the kckidsfun website! On Monday the girls get to spend the day crafting with Grandma KK while their parents are at work.
We’re going to the MLKJR parade!
Since school is out, we’re going to Wonderscope.
I know what we are going to do on MLK Day! Use the time machine from the museum and go back in time to see the “I Have a Dream” speech in person. ;) Well, if we were Phineas and Ferb, that is exactly what we would do! For our MLK Day, we will be using the extended weekend to travel and visit family. Sharing the day with the ones we love! :)
My family and I are going to spend MLK Jr day anyway that our 4 year old son would like to. Both my husband and I work alot and do not get to spend as much quality family time together as we would like so when we both get days off such as MLK Jr day, we allow him to plan the day as a family :) My husband has to work the weekend before the Holiday so we typically just stay home and relax while he is working
I’ll be enjoying the day chillin’ with my kiddos.
We’ve got an awesome playdate planned.
The boys are having friends spend the night Sunday into Monday. I’m sure they will stay up too late and with any luck they will sleep in in the morning.
We will be getting ready for Valentine’s Day!
We will be going to grandmas house to bake!!!
We will be busy. Basketball game, birthday party, then going to Dodge City to visit family.
We will be building a pinewood derby car for scouts and making valentine gifts for grandparents. I’m sure phineas and ferb could turn this into a much more exciting activity if they were here!
Friends and family on a 3-day weekend
We will just be enjoying a day off school/work as a family!
On our 3 day weekend we will visit the kids 100 yr old great great grandma, have a movie night complete with sleeping in a tent (inside the house of. course lol), and watching football!
We will celebrate MLK through reading age appropriate books about him (they are 3 and 5) this weekend. However, we will enjoy our day off by going to the pool and possibly Crown Center. My son would love to see Phineas and Ferb, however!
This year on MLK Day, mommy will be taking her good friend to the airport and since we just had twins born 3 mos ago, that’s about all we can manage. My older set of twins would love to create a tidal sequence at the Phineas and Ferb Live show…..

We will take food to the local food pantry and some clothes and toys to DAV on MLK Day. Sunday we are going on a scavenger hunt at the Nelson Atkins Art Museum.
We will either find a museum or movie , and hopefully lunch out on the town. I thnk a trip to the library is also in order to find some books on MLK.
My oldest son is epileptic and has had an increase in seizures. He has to have an EEG that afternoon. Prior to the EEG, the boys and I are going roller skating.

I will be working that day, and my kiddo with be with his Grandparents. They plan to go to the library, to check out some local MLK events.
Weekends are when Daddy is home from work. We’ll be enjoying the time we have together and appreciating what we have, not fussing over what we don’t have.

That’s easy…celebrating Christmas with my family. Our oldest spent her entire Christmas break in the hospital so Christmas was delayed. Of course, we did what we could to celebrate in the hospital, but with one child at home and the other in the hospital we were unable to do it together.
We will be spending family time together and, of course, we will discuss the impact Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr made on our lives.
We will be watching our favorite video “Martin”. Enjoy having the day off for family fun.
For the first time, I have a job where I get Martin Luther King Jr. day off with my two daughters! We’ll be going over my sister’s house (about an hour away) and helping her with her new baby. We’ll start it off though by sleeping in a bit late and make a girls only breakfast. No time schedules, so we should have fun!
We have hair appointments, and plan to spend the rest of our time together as a family enjoying the day together.
I will be cuddling with my 5 year old with my feet up…since I am pregnant with twins!

Because school is out I (Grandma ) will be spending time with the kids while mommy & daddy are working, some of the ideas i have read on these comments are what i am going to do. Have to check with mom & dad first they are only kindergarden, first, and second grades.
We will be relaxing, reading some books about Martin Luther King Day, then heading outside (or maybe the warm garage…) to ride some roller scooters!
With the cold front heading towards Kansas city, I think I will just keep the kids inside , will probably spend time reading, watching tv and packing up stuff for the big move that’s coming up in the end of January .
Hopefully we will be sleeping in cause there is no school!

My husband is in the air national guard and leaves for a one month deployment…so we are trying to spend as much time together as possible! :)

We adopted a lab puppy yesterday and we will be spending the day playing with her. Since my husband and son are both off of work and out of school it will be a great opportunity for all of us to enjoy the day getting to know our new family member! :)

Since the kids and hubby were off today, we enjoyed the day hanging out together and even watched some of the Inaugural Parade.

We spent the weekend having “Family Time”. I had to go back to work today, so they had to spend the day with Grandpa.
Family Time included shopping for my son’s upcoming 6th Birthday on Saturday and getting my daughter a dress for the upcoming Father/Daughter dance.
We went to the Rec Center and played a game of basketball and then went swimming.
It was a beautiful weekend and I have to say the kids got along well and made it even better.
We spent the weekend together as a family doing things around the house. We spent today with some friends we don’t get to see as often as we’d like. We took a little time today to talk about MLK and to watch the inauguration.
