The Toy & Miniature Museum in Kansas City is featuring a special exhibit celebrating 50 Years of Barbie, now through the end of 2010. The exhibit, which opened in November, contains hundreds of Barbie dolls spanning her 50 year history.

Collectibles in the exhibit include an original Barbie, an original Barbie Dream Home, Barbie cars from the ’60s and ’80s and more. There are hundreds of vintage and special edition Barbies and their accessories. It is a rare exhibit that grandmas, moms and daughters are all sure to enjoy.

Beginning this weekend, the Toy & Miniature Museum is also offering some workshops that tie in with the Barbie doll theme. On January 23, February 13, February 27, March 13 and March 27, the Museum is holding a Fashion Doll Tour at 1pm, followed by a workshop from 1pm to 4pm. The workshops will alternate between a custom paper doll workshop and a Barbie Shoe Charm Bracelet workshop. Check the museum calendar for the specific workshop schedule.

This exhibit will be around a while – but this seems like an activity tailor-made for cold, gray January and February weather!

(If you’ve already been to see the Barbie exhibit, tell us what you thought!)
