***CONGRATULATIONS TO AMBER DOWNEY (INDEPENDENCE, MO) AND TOM NEWHOUSE, OUR 2 WINNERS!!!*** AMBER AND TOM WILL EACH RECEIVE 2 TICKETS TO MAUL OF THE DEAD, COMPLIMENTS OF COTERIE THEATRE! Just when you thought it was safe to go to the mall again! It’s time to celebrate the era of polyester, disco, punk rock and platform shoes! The year is 1978 and the dead rise once again to terrorize Coterie audiences trapped in Crown Center during Maul of the Dead, October 16 – 31, 2009. The world premiere is inspired by the favorite zombie movie of all time, Dawn of the Dead. Maul of the Dead is part of the Coterie At Night series that brings evening-only performances to older audiences.
Set in 1978, six strangers take refuge in an abandoned shopping mall, only to find zombies behind every mannequin. They seek a “morning after” in a deadly paradise of consumer goods as the world crumbles around them. As audiences arrive – like the characters in the play – they will experience the invasion of Crown Center from attacking zombie hoards whose undead instinct has led them back to the mall. Scared? Even better–you might know one or more of these zombies!!! Two alternating casts of “community zombies” will be performing–and most are students from local schools. Maul of the Dead performs at Off Center Theatre, Level 3 of Crown Center. Evening performances only! PG-13. |
The Coterie Theatre has been generous enough to give us (2) two-packs of tickets to Maul of the Dead–and these will go to two lucky readers! **The winners will be contacted by a representative of the Coterie so ticketing arrangements can be made.**
So, here’s what you need to do to enter the random drawing - (1) submit a comment by clicking the Comments link at the end of this article; (2) the form will require a valid email address which will NOT be made public with your comment; (3) just tell us your name and the city/town in which you live and you’re entered!

We love Halloween and this would be a great way to celebrate the Holiday with some good ole Zombies!!! Thanks for the opportunity to win some tickets.

How fun! We’d love to see this show!
I totally agree with Nancy! I do think this is another great thing to do in KC. My husband and I both appreciate a good scare…I think our kids are well on their way to sharing the this appreciation!
Excelsior Springs, MO.
I bought a gross of toothbrushes to hand out to trick-or-treaters. Now I’m afraid that this will spur an onslaught of egg-throwing teenagers directed towards my house. It would be nice to just leave the box of toothbrushes on my porch and go to the Coterie for the evening instead!
My kids would love to have scary night out as a family!!!
My husband and I love watching scary movies and think this would be an awesome experience. We have a 3 year old and are very busy so it would be nice to get out and have a “free ticket” date night.
My Mom is visiting for the next few weeks and I would love to take her to a theater production with the kids.
I was just reading about this play last week and thought that it would be great fun. We would love to win, my daughter loves to get scared along with me. Thanks!
My husband and I just moved to Platte City, MO from Elizabethtown, KY. We had season tickets to Actors Theater in Louisville and miss the our play date nights. This looks like fun!
Our lovely Daughter and Wonderful Son- In-law (Son), have 3 little ones under 5 years of age. They just recently went through a bout of fevers and all sick at the same time. They are in such bad need of a great night out. I would love to hand them These tickets and say: GO have a blast, you deserve it, I’ll babysit.
Sounds like fun, would love to take my kids for a great night out.
My boy would like to go. He likes to get scared!
My Daughter loves acting! She has done a couple small scale parts in community theatre and I think it would be a truly inspiring experience for her to see a Coterie production and have a blast at the same time!!
This is the first year since my 7 yr. old daughter was 2 that we have not had season tickets. Mom (me) has been laid off all year and we have to cut corners. This is one of our all time favorites is to go to the Coterie as a family. We have never been let down once! Hope everyon enjoys this one!
I am so grateful for your blog.Much thanks again. Much obliged.
