Are you as tired as I am of arguing with the kids over the television, computer and video games? “No more screen time!” My kids are sick of hearing it and I’m sure sick of saying it. I have found that my first grader and kindergartener are thrilled to death, though, if I arrange for them to see a play or some stage performance.
They are enthralled by the “event” – tickets, a venue other than our basement, finding our seats and the dimming of the lights. And often it also means a trip to downtown Kansas City (or at least to midtown) – a big treat for my suburban critters.
There are some fantastic, family-friendly theatrical offerings in Kansas City over the next few months. I’m really excited for some of these! I highly recommend picking at least one and introducing your kids to the excitement of a live stage performance. Who knows? Maybe they’ll get bitten by the acting bug themselves?!
